§ 18-13. Same—Declaration of intent; survey and estimate of expenses.

  • Whenever the common council shall undertake the construction of a sewer under the provisions of this act [chapter] they shall declare their intention to construct the same, specifying therein the course and two (2) points between which it is proposed to construct the same, together with the size thereof and the materials of which it is to be constructed. The city engineer shall thereupon make a survey and prepare an estimate of the material required and also the amount of each kind of excavation, together with the total cost of the same, and shall file such estimate with the city clerk. Whenever the sewer proposed to be constructed shall exceed two (2) feet in diameter he shall also make and file an estimate of what in his opinion would be the expense of constructing a two-foot sewer of the same kind in or through the same course, except in the case of an intercepting sewer.
