§ 5-13. Policemen take bail for certain persons.

  • The chief of police or any officer of the police department may take bail for the appearance of any person, arrested for a misdemeanor or for a violation of a city ordinance, before a competent magistrate the next morning and said officer at the time of accepting bail may demand and receive from the person so arrested one dollar ($1.00) for accepting and perfecting such bail bond. All fees received by such officer or by the police justice or any officer of the police court for accepting and perfecting bail bonds shall be paid into the police pension fund.
