§ 5-22. Common council to adopt building code.

  • It shall be the duty of the common council to enact ordinances providing for all matters concerning, affecting or relating to the construction, equipment or removal of buildings and structures erected or to be erected in said city and to insure immunity from fire and the protection and safety of the public in the use of the buildings, streets and public places of said city in addition to the regulations and restrictions contained in and imposed by this act and any other law relating to the subject matter hereof which shall be known as the "building code" of said city, and the provisions of said code when so adopted, including all specific penalties fixed for the violation of any provisions thereof, shall be binding and of full force and effect in said city and the same may from time to time be revised, altered, amended or repealed by ordinance of said common council.
