§ 22-2. Syracuse Conservation Advisory Council: Urban vegetation committee organized.

  • It shall be the duty and responsibility of the Syracuse Conservation Advisory Council to organize an advisory committee consisting of members of the Syracuse Conservation Advisory Council and other citizens who are interested in the improvement and protection of the vegetation within the city of Syracuse. This committee shall be known as the urban vegetation committee, hereinafter called the committee.

    (a)

    Duties. The committee shall act in an advisory capacity to the mayor, members of the common council, and other properly constituted officials of the city of Syracuse regarding management policies and adequate staffing and funding to maintain a safe and health tree population along city streets and in city parks.

    The committee shall also develop and conduct public programs and meetings designed to foster an increased understanding and awareness of the vegetation within the city of Syracuse.

    (b)

    Operation. The committee shall be organized within thirty (30) days after enactment of this legislation. The members of the committee shall make their own rules and regulations, and shall keep a journal of their proceedings. The members of the committee shall receive no compensation for their services pursuant to this ordinance [chapter].
