§ 25-3.1. Transportation board.

  • (a)

    It is hereby established in and for the city a transportation board. Such board shall consist of nine (9) members appointed as follows: A representative of the corporation counsel's office, appointed by the corporation counsel; the common council public works committee chairperson (or a representative appointed by such chairperson); a representative of the Syracuse Police License Department appointed by the chief of police; a representative appointed by the mayor; three (3) representatives of the taxi industry appointed by the common council; and two (2) representatives who are not related to the taxi industry appointed by the common council. The term of each appointed member shall be for one (1) year from the date of appointment.

    (b)

    The transportation board shall elect annually from its membership a chairperson, vice-chairperson and secretary. It may make, adopt, promulgate, and enforce rules of procedure for the conduct of its meetings, consistent with laws and the ordinances applicable thereto, which shall become effective on the date the same are filed with the city clerk. Meetings of the board shall be held at least twice per year. Hearings of the board shall be public.

    (c)

    The board shall review matters presented to it pertaining to ground transportation areas governed by the city. The board shall hear testimony and may make recommendations concerning city governed transportation services to the common council, chief of police and city license commissioner.
