§ 28-2. The mayor's commission on human rights.

  • There is hereby created in the office of the mayor a commission on human rights. It shall consist of sixteen (16) members, serving without compensation, broadly representative of the religious, racial and ethnic groups in our community, to be appointed by the mayor. One of the members of the commission on human rights shall be designated by the mayor as its chairman. Of the sixteen (16) members first appointed, five (5) shall be appointed for one year, five (5) for two (2) years, and six (6) for three (3) years; thereafter, all appointments to the mayor's commission on human rights shall be for a term of three (3) years. In the event of the death or resignation of any member, his successor shall be appointed to serve for the unexpired period of the term for which such member has been appointed.
