§ 2-53. Purpose.

Latest version.
  • In the city of Syracuse there are a large number of various types of alarm systems, including, but not limited to, intrusion, fire, holdup, and medic alert, alarms which emit external audible or visual alarms or transmit signals or messages when activated; resulting, either directly or indirectly, in the notification of the city of Syracuse Police and/or Fire Departments. Upon notification, appropriate city public safety personnel and equipment is dispatched to respond to each alarm activation. Every year a significant percentage of the city's public safety resources are expended in responding to alarm activations. Article 15 has been adopted to regulate these alarm systems and to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public.
