§ 39-6. Recruitment.

  • The city shall supplement its affirmative action plan in order to attract qualified applicants for employment who are members of protected classes by taking the following action as deemed appropriate by the affirmative action officer:

    (1)

    Advertising, by classified advertisement, employment opportunities with the city of Syracuse.

    (2)

    Providing advance written notice of civil service examinations for employment opportunities with the City of Syracuse to protected class interest organizations included in the affirmative action mailing list filed in the city personnel department office. Organizations to receive notification include local chapters of such national organizations as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Urban League, the National Organization for Women, the Easter Seal Society and the Vietnam Veterans of America, as well as relevant local organizations.

    (3)

    Providing advanced written notice of civil service examinations for employment opportunities with the city of Syracuse to each city high school and technical and vocational school and stating in such notice the desire of the city to attract to such examinations qualified applicants who are members of protected classes.
